While doing some research throughout the web, I found this nifty little site called Twitterfone that is a free service that lets you update your Twitter feed using your voice from any mobile or cell phone. You call it, speak your tweet, and hang up. A short while later, your tweet will be posted on Twitter. Now this is still in BETA and is invitation only. This sounds like something only lazy people would use, but hey, there are a lot of lazy people out there, thus a big market. Nevertheless, check it out and let me know what you think.

NASA’s The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory and the Planetary Society (that was a mouthful), you can sign up by going to http://lro.jhuapl.edu/NameToMoon/index.php and submitting your name (and the names of others if you so choose) to be used in this Lunar Orbiter. In the end, you will be given a certificate that documents your your actions. Well, go try it! I am done talking.

A report from WhiteSmoke that I was reading states through a survey that adults can’t spell everyday words.
Adults were shown 20 words and asked to pick out the correct spelling. ‘Calendar’ was misspelled by 19 percent of people, 20 percent were clueless when it came to spelling ‘embarrass’ and ‘referring’ drew blanks from 28 percent. Another 38 percent had no idea how to spell ‘definitely’.
Almost a third were stumped by the spelling of ‘liaison’ and 40 percent got ‘questionnaire’ wrong, followed by ‘accommodate,’ which was misspelled 38 percent of the time. Even ‘receive’ was misspelled by 15 percent of respondents who apparently forgot the lesson covering, “I before E except after C.”
it is amazing….and sad at the same time. The big problem I see is that people just don’t proof read what they write. I can say now that I don’t think I have proof read any of my blog posts. But it brings to mind the consequences of such an action. What if you had a prospective business client or something see your “misspelling”. Not sure if that is going to hinder them from doing business with you (unless your job is a secretary of something…) but it does provide an impression, nonetheless. Read the rest of this entry »

Okay, now this is just plain ole cool. While doing some research about social media channels, I stumbled upon this cool little coding done by a Mr. Kingsley Joseph of Saleforce. Created through Yahoo Pipes, this “Social Media Firehose” can track the mention of a company, such as ArisTech Media and their products and services, accross the social media spetrum such as Flickr, Technorati, Bloglines, Digg, YouTube, Friendfeed, Twitter and More! Between the ages of 25 and 60, people’s ability to use websites declines by 0.8% per year — mostly because they spend more time per page, but also because of navigation difficulties.

Question: How many people actually read through websites throughly?
Answer: NO ONE (well, maybe a few, but the majority don’t. I don’t.)
People today scan through websites. They look at tag lines, headlines, bullet points, short paragraphs, etc. So, with that in mind, you want to make your websites content readable for the scan reader. May not be quite grammatically correct (wink), but you want to have your sites content specifically conveying the MOST IMPORTANT aspects of your information. You want to make it so that as they dig deeper, they find more. Sounds tedious, but it is effective. That is what keeps your conversion rates growing along with your business. When people think about placing their business online, their first thoughts begin with a website for their business. And guess what, they are right. Everything is going online, I mean everything, especially in todays business world. It is because of this fact that I started ArisTech Media to help businesses and individual take those steps to get online and to be successful. However, what I want to share in this post mainly is the first step that needs to be taken when planning the creation of a website, and this step has to do with search terms.

The other day I was conversing with a friend, a filmmaker and photographer. His work has recently been awarded many honors in the recent Newport Beach Film Festival along with the OCC Shorts. Nevertheless, he needed a business card and wanted to design it himself. He created one and asked for my opinion. So I gave it to him and he ended up creating a really nice business card. However, as I was giving him the advice, it got me thinking that most people really don’t know how to create/design a professional and beautiful business along with actually having the knowledge on how to use the business card. Especially for us young entrepreneurs, business cards are a vital marketing tool that shows the determination of you, portrays the images (hopefully a good image) of your company and your customer service.
