Question: How many people actually read through websites throughly?

Answer: NO ONE (well, maybe a few, but the majority don’t. I don’t.)

People today scan through websites. They look at tag lines, headlines, bullet points, short paragraphs, etc. So, with that in mind, you want to make your websites content readable for the scan reader. May not be quite grammatically correct (wink), but you want to have your sites content specifically conveying the MOST IMPORTANT aspects of your information. You want to make it so that as they dig deeper, they find more. Sounds tedious, but it is effective. That is what keeps your conversion rates growing along with your business.

What I like to use at ArisTech Media as a sign of effective content is to create headlines that grab the attention of the reader, but more importantly, pull the reader into the first sentence of the content. Remember, you are not selling them with the headline, they are not going to take the action on the headline alone. You want to suck them into the content of that first sentence, and then suck them into the next sentence, and the third, etc. That is successful content.

If you come to a sentence that makes you feel bored, then remove it. If you can remove any sentence that does not pull the reader, the consumer into the action, THEN DO IT! Pull that non-sucking sentence out because that is going hinder the person from taking that action of buying your product, reading your information, etc.
